How we rate

Warmth

  1. Light 55°F and up Thin knit, no cushioning. For dress shoes, sneakers and warm days.
  2. All-Season 35–55°F Midweight knit or light cushioning. Everyday wear, three seasons.
  3. Cold-Weather 10–35°F Terry-lined foot or thick knit. Winter days, boots and hikes.
  4. Extreme Cold Below 10°F Terry lining from cuff to toe or our heaviest knit. Long hours in deep cold.

Softness

  1. Smooth Snug performance or compression knit. Sleek, supportive and durable.
  2. Soft Classic alpaca blend with a flat knit. Soft and itch-free.
  3. Extra Soft Baby alpaca blend or a plush terry interior.
  4. Cloud Soft Full terry, baby alpaca lounge knits or hand-knit 100% alpaca. Our softest.

Temperatures are a guide for everyday wear. Active days run warmer.

Some babies kick off every sock you put on them — these are built to stay. The over-the-calf design climbs higher up the leg, so tugging feet and wiggly diaper changes don't send them flying across the nursery. Made from 41% baby alpaca with no dyes, bleach, or sheep's wool, they're one of the gentlest options for newborn and toddler skin. The cuff stretches loose and easy, hugging without squeezing, so you won't find red marks around tiny ankles at nap's end. Alpaca fiber breathes and wicks moisture on its own, keeping little feet warm and dry through naps, playtime, and everything in between. A simple sock that actually stays put.

Why alpaca

Alpaca vs. Merino Wool vs. Cotton

How alpaca fiber stacks up against the two most common sock materials, rated honestly.

This sock: All-Season warmth, Extra Soft softness

Comparison of alpaca, merino wool and cotton sock fibers
Feature Warrior Alpaca Merino Wool Cotton
Warmth Best Hollow fibers trap heat, warmer than wool without the bulk Good Warm, but needs more bulk for the same heat Poor Little insulation, and none once it gets wet
Moisture-wicking Best Pulls sweat away and dries fast Good Wicks well, dries more slowly Poor Absorbs sweat and stays wet
Odor resistance Best Naturally antimicrobial, stays fresh in boots Good Resists odor well Poor Traps odor after a day of wear
Itch-free softness Best Smooth fiber scales, no prickle Good Soft, though some feel a prickle Good Soft and itch-free
Sensitive skin Best Lanolin-free and hypoallergenic Fair Contains lanolin, which can irritate Good Gentle on most skin
Durability Best Strong fiber that holds its shape Good Durable, prone to felting if overheated Fair Wears thin and stretches out

Missing socks/sizing discrepancies

"The 4-pack I ordered only had three pairs of socks. The size 12-24 months are quite a bit smaller than the 6-12 month pair I ordered and don’t even remotely fit. The socks seem high quality and are very soft but I wouldn’t order from Warrior again."

Beautiful

"These are soft and luscious with plenty of stretch! Pro-tip, these can be used as mitten liners for the little ones."

— Melanie N. (5/5)

My favorite baby socks

"These are the best! I have loved having them for all my babes throughout their first winters. Their feet are so small that baby socks always fall off, except these! With the additional benefit of keeping their legs warm for when their little pant legs ride up to try and show off their ankles."

— AMANDA M. (5/5)

Perfect on my very small two year old

"These fit my two year old son perfectly—he’s very small for his age and lots of other socks don’t fit him"

— DANIELLE B. (5/5)

Super super sock!

"Bought these for the newest walker in our family who will be 1yo soon. SO SOFT, grippy too (we bought some styles that grip) and very very cute. I was so impressed with the quality, I checked out the women’s styles and bought three pair for myself!! Highly recommend and the order/ delivery process was exactly as promised!"
