Cuddly Scrunch or Slouch socks are back and better than ever when crafted from soft and cozy warm alpaca wool!
These socks became popular in the 1980's-90's and were made famous by waitresses at restaurants like Hooters, Wing House and featured repeatedly shown on TV shows like Friends too. From 1984 to 1997 men, women, college students, teens and kids were all wearing their slouchie socks. Cheerleaders wore them with Keds as part of their uniform, while body builders and even basketball players rocked the style!
Our alpaca Scruch socks are even better than the originals, providing cozy insulation and superb wicking not found in cotton or acrylic varieties. They feature the traditional bulky upper that can be pushed down into heavy folds around your ankles or pulled up over the calf. As always, Slouch socks have a foot that is made of a thinner knit, allowing for layering. A popular fashion trend involved wearing multiple pairs of slouch socks to create a very thick, heavy scrunched affect around the ankles, and progressing up the leg.
Today, as in the past, people of all ages are pairing our alpaca slouchy socks with athletic sneakers and oversized T-shirts, sweatshirts or sweaters. Slouch socks scrunched down over leggings or with athletic clothes look fresh, yet comfortable. Our favorite is to just wear them around the house relaxing.
